Color Of Change seeks a Project Manager, Office of the President to (i) coordinate and project manage the President’s workflow, (ii) manage or support day-to-day operations and initiatives of the President’s Office, and (iii) drive special projects and/or events on behalf of the President and his team, including independent travel or travel with the President and/or COO.


The ideal candidate combines exceptional relationship management skills with stellar project management and problem-solving skills, and will be able to handle competing -- and shifting -- priorities. This position is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in racial and social justice issues who is excited to bring their talents and acumen to bear in a fast-paced, collaborative, and strategic growth-focused environment. In working closely with the Senior Advisor and Executive Assistant to the President, and on behalf of the President’s Office, you will have a unique window into the inner workings of a movement.


The Project Manager, Office of the President is based out of our New York City office and reports directly to the Senior Advisor to the President.





Specific job responsibilities include:


  • Project Management Office (PMO) for the President
    • Serve as the internal hub for the President’s workflow by developing and implementing processes, systems, and norms to ensure effective workflow management
    • Own daily, weekly and quarterly workflow digests, ensuring all requests for the President’s review, feedback, and input are triaged, tracked, and communicated accordingly. The PM role will work closely with the Executive Assistant to the President to ensure these tasks are being managed to completion
    • Collaborate with the Senior Advisor to the President and the Executive Assistant to the President to ensure that workflow management corresponds with both scheduling needs and long-term strategic priorities


  • Relationship Management & Organizational Impact
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships as a key liaison with internal and external staff and partners on behalf of the President’s Office, collaborating closely with the Senior Advisor to the President
    • In collaboration with the Senior Advisor, monitor Board anniversaries and special occasions and support any additional relationship management and communications
    • Attend Board and working group meetings; record and circulate meeting minutes or on behalf of the President’s Office, working closely with the Senior Advisor
    • Partner with the Executive Assistant to the President to support the President’s portfolio of activities and travel/personal needs
    • Travel independently and/or with the President, COO, or teams (up to 30%)


  • Event Management & Special Projects

o   Project-manage execution of special projects, engagements and events in collaboration with the Senior Advisor and Executive Assistant to the President, along with other internal and external stakeholders (e.g. COC convenings, board meetings, donor engagement events, internal/external meetings, etc.)

o   Proactively identify areas of opportunity and challenge (for all teams reporting to the President and the entire organization) and own analysis, recommendations, and implementation from start-to-finish

You have demonstrated your ability to manage by influence, superb project management skills, and significant experience building and managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders. To excel in this role, you likely bring the following experience(s) to the table:

  • A minimum of 4- 6 years of relevant experience, with exceptional project management and problem-solving skills (previous experience in management consulting or a parallel environment is a major plus)
  • Demonstrated alignment with Color Of Change’s mission and campaigns, and an interest in deepening your commitment to racial justice and building a career in impact
  • Commitment to confidentiality and the ability to exercise absolute discretion and independent judgment
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with demonstrated experience managing up and across an organization
  • Experience developing and implementing new tools and systems in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to prioritize among competing priorities and multi-task across a broad spectrum of collaborators
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written – with demonstrated ability to write persuasive memos, concept papers, and PowerPoint presentations
  • Previous experience directly managing and or coaching a team not required, but valued
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, adaptability, and a positive attitude
