ABOUT COLOR OF CHANGE

Color Of Change is the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. We help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us. As a national online force driven by over seven million members, we move decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more humane and less hostile world for Black people in America. We move members from analysis to action on crucial issues so that we can build the Black political power necessary to transform the written and unwritten rules of society. Color Of Change was founded in 2005 in response to the realization that during the crisis caused by Hurricane Katrina, as Black people were left stranded on their roofs to die, no one was afraid to disappoint Black people. When the government, media, corporations, and other decision-makers are not afraid of disappointing Black people, Black communities are negatively impacted and cannot move forward.

TEAM SUMMARY

The Marketing & Storytelling team creates and leads the brand and content strategy necessary to translate and advance Color Of Change’s values, vision, and efforts across a broad set of national influencers and grassroots activists. Through various platforms and mediums, the team is responsible for supporting efforts across the organization to deliver on our main promise: provoking the level and frequency of action from our members and allies that will force target decision-makers to take action, and thereby achieve real-world impact and lasting, systemic change. The team is also responsible for brand management, strategic content development, content distribution, and high-level media relations. Central to the Marketing & Storytelling team’s work is Color Of Change’s Hollywood Culture Project — an initiative designed to change the way Black people (and the issues we care about) are represented in entertainment media and to effectively leverage cultural influencers in support of our campaigns.

ROLE SUMMARY

Color Of Change seeks a detail-oriented Creative Project Manager who can help manage and traffic creative projects from start to finish. Someone with experience using project management tools, building comprehensive and detailed charts, managing contracts and invoices, and who has a general knowledge of design and video industries. The Creative Project Manager is someone who is comfortable navigating many projects at once and meeting tight deadlines. Design and video experience are preferred but not required.  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Administrative Support (50%)


  • Coordinate the schedules of the Director of Production and Senior Graphic Designer, with a strong understanding of setting priorities, scheduling, and administrative support for the director and managers as needed.

  • Maintain the design and video team’s schedules, databases, and general notes.
  • Ensure that meetings, deadlines, presentations, and other duties of the office are carried out seamlessly.

  • Make travel arrangements, coordinating flights, accommodations, and other itinerary specifics.
  • Receive and greet external guests in person and during digital events.

  • Field phone calls, emails and direct them to appropriate staff.
  • Work with the Operations and IT team to prepare in-person and digital conference rooms before presentations and meetings.

  • Support ad-hoc scheduling and administrative requests as needed.
  • Managing team expenses, executing contracts, and filing invoices: Ensure that receipts, per diem and reimbursements, are filed in a timely fashion.
  • Perform vendor invoicing and payment support as needed.

  • Anticipate the team’s needs and proactively bring together appropriate people and resources to support the executive in addressing these issues.
  • Managing team’s Monday.com boards, Google Drive Folders, and Digital Asset Management system.
  • Help managing licensing contracts and agreements

Design Support (25%)

  • Assist in designing graphic assets as needed
  • Support the build-out of templates for priority projects
  • Help manage graphic design requests for both rapid response and long-term campaigns
  • Work with the social media team to track data metrics, analyze results, and suggest improvements
  • Coordinate with the design team to analyze and improve processes

Video Support (25%)

  • Support with and management of administrative production documents. 
  • Help trafficking video requests and final deliverables. 
  • Working with vendors and the Director to manage contracts and scope of work. 
  • Support with creating templates and systems to help streamline the video team’s process. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of administrative experience in the creative industry.
  • Demonstrated alignment with Color Of Change’s mission and campaigns, and an interest in deepening your commitment to racial justice and building a career in impact.
  • A strong aptitude for project management skills and ability to work on tight timelines, with internal and external partners, based in national offices or remotely.
  • The ability to prioritize among competing priorities and multi-task across a broad spectrum of collaborators
  • Enjoys working independently, as well as on a team to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability as a proactive team player who takes initiative and can easily collaborate cross-departmentally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and sharp attention to detail.
  • Experience analyzing data and suggesting improvements.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and the ability to exercise absolute discretion and independent judgment
  • Fluency in project management tools such as Monday, Asana, Airtable, Basecamp, etc.
  • Fluency in Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in GSuite applications including Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar. 

  • Experience working with Zoom and creating and organizing meetings.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud products--specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, AfterEffects, and Media Encoder.
  • Some knowledge of video and design output requirements for social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills across a range of tasks and audiences.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • A sense of humor with a cool demeanor under pressure.

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time exempt position. The salary for the Creative Project Manager position is $72,000. Color Of Change also offers a competitive benefits package.
